Every year during the month of April (which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month), The CARE Center of Indiana County hosts the Pinwheels for Prevention event. Local citizens, businesses, and organizations sponsor pinwheels at various donation amounts, and then our Pinwheel Garden of Hope goes on display on the lawn of the Indiana County Courthouse.
WHY A PINWHEEL? In 2008, Prevent Child Abuse America introduced the pinwheel as the new national symbol for child abuse prevention through Pinwheels for Prevention. Pinwheels have become a national symbol of the great childhoods we want for all children -- and that all children deserve! We hope you will sponsor a pinwheel each year in honor of a child you love, or in honor of someone who loved and nurtured the child you once were.
